Amnesty International demands immediate reopening of Taiz's main roads by Yemen's Houthi forces.
Amnesty International has called on Yemen's Houthi rebels to immediately reopen the main roads to Taiz, stating that the group has pushed the city to the brink of a severe humanitarian catastrophe since cutting off the road connecting Taiz and Aden in October. Heba Morayef, Amnesty International's Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, said the move puts hundreds of thousands of civilians at severe risk of accessing food, water, and healthcare. According to data from the UN Human Rights Office, at least 32 civilians, including 14 children, died in Taiz province between August 1 and October 19. Amnesty International stated that food prices in the besieged areas have risen by approximately 50%, and cooking gas supplies have largely been cut off.
