NVIDIA on Wednesday unveiled the OpenShell reference architecture at its GTC Berlin conference, a full-stack design combining its Vera CPU, OpenShell software, and BlueField-4 chips to contain and monitor autonomous AI agents. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang stated that OpenShell is designed to allow agents to operate freely within clearly defined boundaries, enabling them to be contained, monitored, and controlled. The architecture treats agent workloads as untrusted, granting access only when necessary, while the Sentry monitoring framework on the BlueField-4 chip independently inspects traffic between agents and models for enhanced security.
