Anthropic launches AI agent Claude Duet, capable of continuous background operation and proactive task execution
Anthropic on Wednesday unveiled Claude Duet, a new application positioned as an AI agent capable of running continuously in the background, proactively identifying user needs, and executing work tasks. Developed based on its flagship model, Claude Opus 5.5, the product can connect with over 6,000 tools, aiming to extend AI competition from model capabilities to task execution. Currently, Claude Duet is in a research preview phase, available only to Claude Pro and Max subscribers in the United States via a waitlist. Anthropic is competing with other proactive AI agents such as OpenAI's Dots and Meta's Muse.
