According to data from Singaporean consulting firm Global SWF, sovereign wealth fund investments in mainland China and Hong Kong surged to $14.2 billion in the first nine months of 2026, a 190% increase from the total investment in 2025, reversing a previous sharp decline. Middle Eastern sovereign investors were the main drivers, with Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) contributing $6 billion, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) contributing $250 million, and Abu Dhabi's Mubadala and Qatar Investment Authority investing $800 million and $600 million, respectively. These Gulf funds collectively accounted for nearly 70% of sovereign investments during the period.
