According to Al Jazeera, the latest electronic products, including the iPhone 18, MacBook Air, and PlayStation 5, are entering Iran through smuggling and other channels. However, due to US sanctions, trade disruptions, and the Iranian government's import tariffs and additional fees of up to 30%, their prices are significantly higher than in international markets. For example, the MacBook Air 15-inch M4 sells for over $1,450 in Iran, approximately 6% higher than in the UAE.

Iranian customs data shows that mobile phone imports decreased by 70% year-on-year in the first five months of the current fiscal year, with import values also shrinking significantly. Meanwhile, the Iranian rial continues to depreciate, currently trading at approximately 2.64 million rials to the US dollar. Coupled with a monthly minimum wage of only about $83, new electronic products are unaffordable for the average citizen.
