Iraqi PM Zaidi: Consolidating all arms under state control is irreversible; closing Iran border would be economic self-blockade
Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi stated that consolidating all arms under state authority is a final and irreversible decision. He added that closing the Iraqi-Iranian border is not in the interest of either country, as it would lead to Iraq's economic self-blockade. Zaidi also noted that Iraq has successfully avoided international isolation, completed arms integration agreements with three armed factions, and is negotiating with four others. He affirmed that there are no US soldiers in Iraq and understandings have been reached for Turkish forces to withdraw from the Bashiqa base. Iraq will remain neutral and not participate in any war.
