World's pension funds face an aging crisis as longer lifespans and dwindling birth rates threaten retirement finances, raising questions about their ability to sustain payouts for future generations, CNBC reported. The 2026 Marsh CFA Institute Global Pension Index (MCGPI) report, published last Tuesday, highlighted that 43 of 55 pension systems have fertility rates below the replacement level, and life expectancy at age 65 has increased by 50.9% since 1950. This demographic crunch is forcing some funds to take on greater risks in their investment strategies to meet growing obligations.
