Bitcoin faces another Federal Reserve interest-rate decision on October 27-28, as the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) continues to struggle with restoring its inflation data collection operations. The BLS collected 66.3% of targeted price observations in its September commodities-and-services survey, a modest improvement from August's 65.9% but still below the 67.6% recorded a year earlier. This shortfall, stemming from 2025 staffing and survey reductions, adds uncertainty to the inflation outlook after US consumer prices rose 3.7% annually in September. Coinbase Institutional noted Bitcoin fell from $83,800 to below $82,000 following September's hotter-than-expected CPI release, which sent two-year Treasury yields sharply higher. The BLS has not identified a directional bias in its recent inflation estimates, but missing observations complicate CPI calculations, potentially making estimates less representative.
