Cross-border trade between Pakistan and Iran partially resumed this weekend, following a week-long suspension due to security risks, Al Jazeera reported. Officials from the truckers' association stated that Pakistani export goods such as rice and bananas have begun crossing the border, and Iranian liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) trucks that were loaded before the closure have been allowed into Pakistan. However, Iran's Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, said that Iranian goods are still unable to enter Pakistan smoothly due to changes in Pakistan's import spreadsheet procedures. Pakistan's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Sajjad Haider Khan, reiterated that Pakistan adheres to all applicable sanctions regimes but did not directly comment on the border reopening or rumors of U.S. pressure. Previously, armed attacks occurred in Pakistan's border region, resulting in the deaths of 10 assailants and 1 civilian.
