Jordan launched airstrikes on Syria on Monday, killing at least seven people, including women and children. The Jordanian Armed Forces stated the action was in response to a church shooting in Jordan's Karak Governorate last week (October 23) that killed nine people. The Jordanian military said the airstrikes targeted "terrorist groups" in southeastern Syria linked to the church attackers and claimed coordination with the Syrian government. However, the Syrian Ministry of Defense denied coordination with Jordan, stating that the Jordanian attacks hit the Daraa and Sweida provinces, killing several civilians, including a family of five. Following the airstrikes, the Syrian Border Administration announced the closure of the Nasib border crossing, the sole crossing with Jordan, suspending two-way traffic.
