Solana's Firedancer software team now requires researchers to permanently burn 1 SOL (worth about $100) for each bug report submission. This change, updated on Monday, aims to reduce spam after a month-long audit competition received 809 reports, with nearly all believed to be AI-generated or assisted. The fee is non-refundable, even for invalid or duplicate reports. Jump Crypto, which built Firedancer, noted that while AI makes finding bugs cheap, judging them remains expensive, leading to a backlog of reports.
