Meta AI director Rohit Patel has departed the company after eight years to launch his new startup, Ndoc, which aims to be an AI-native replacement for Microsoft Office suite and Google Workspace. Patel, a former director at Meta Superintelligence Labs, focused on reinforcement learning and AI output evaluation during his tenure. He designed Ndoc to unify fragmented workflows across various tools, bringing together presentations, analyses, and underlying datasets/scripts in one workspace, allowing users to verify AI-generated content. Patel's decision to open-source the file format for Ndoc was a key reason for his departure from Meta, seeking to move faster than a large corporation. Ndoc is currently conducting an enterprise pilot and opening an alpha version to a limited number of customers, with a full launch planned for next year.
