Serbia's Interior Minister stated that a minor who attacked the Israeli embassy was killed by police, and the country's counter-terrorism alert level has been raised to the highest.
Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dačić announced that a minor male was shot dead by police early Wednesday after attacking an officer with a knife outside the Israeli embassy in Belgrade and shouting "Allahu Akbar." The officer sustained minor facial injuries. Dačić stated that the attacker was a Serbian citizen and had been under surveillance by security services as a suspected supporter of ISIS. Following the incident, Serbia has raised its counter-terrorism alert level to the highest "red alert." The Israeli Foreign Ministry confirmed that no embassy staff were injured and the embassy was closed at the time of the incident. This marks the second attack on the Israeli embassy in Belgrade in nearly three years, with the previous one occurring in June 2024.
