An unknown whale has continuously withdrawn $290 million in USDC from platforms like Aave for 394 consecutive nights, causing Aave's lending rates to triple.
Blockchain analytics firm Bitquery reports that an unidentified crypto whale has repeatedly withdrawn approximately $290 million in USDC from Aave and Sky platforms for 394 consecutive midnights (UTC) since September 30, 2025, with $134 million originating from Aave. This action temporarily depleted liquidity, causing Aave's USDC lending rate to surge from 4.5% to 13.8%, nearly tripling. The funds typically returned after about half an hour. Bitquery noted that these repeated operations caused Aave's USDC lending pool utilization to rise from a median of 94% to 99.6% in October, reaching 100% on six nights. However, Aavescan data shows that the lending rate had fallen back to 5.45% at midnight UTC on October 29, indicating an easing of the liquidity crunch.
