XPeng Executive Says China's Flying Cars Are More Commercially Viable Than Tesla Roadster, Have Received 7,000 Orders
Wang Tan, co-founder of Aridge, an affiliate of XPeng Inc., stated that flying cars developed by Chinese companies are better suited for commercial use than the Tesla Roadster in terms of design. He pointed out that the Roadster's jet configuration requires high-pressure storage tanks, severely limiting cabin seating and application environments, with flight times of only a few seconds. In contrast, XPeng's flying car uses multiple rotors and high-density batteries, allowing for approximately 20 minutes of flight, and has already received over 7,000 global orders. Aridge delivered its first land-air amphibious flying car to the UAE earlier this month, but it still needs to await safety certification from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) before it can legally fly.
