Thirty-eight companies, including Walmart, Microsoft, Google, and JPMorgan Chase, have officially opposed the tokenization of their stocks on the OKXICE platform, which is backed by Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange. OKXICE is a proposed 24-hour venue for trading tokenized stocks, and it listed these opponents in a notice dated October 28. According to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) framework, tokens must possess shareholder rights equivalent to traditional stocks, but issuers must weigh pricing risks and have a 30-day window to block third-party proposals. This widespread opposition highlights the challenges faced by issuers in participating in tokenized stock trading, as well as concerns about potential price misalignment and record-keeping.
