UK investors are nearly twice as likely to spot horror film pressure tactics than investment red flags, new data from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) suggests. A survey of UK 18 to 40-year-olds found 65% recognized 'this is your only chance' as a horror warning sign, but only 36% would be cautious when faced with a 'last chance to buy' investment opportunity. Similarly, 59% recognized countdowns in horror, while only 5% would be suspicious of pressure from a rising investment price graph. FCA's director of consumer investments, Lucy Castledine, noted that hype, urgency, and fear of missing out can influence investment decisions, urging consumers to do their research.
