Al Jazeera reports that since the resumption of the school year in Gaza on September 19, local children have continuously faced Israeli bombing and sniper attacks on their way to school. Between October 18 and 24, at least 10 children aged 6 to 16 and one teacher were killed in the attacks. Data from the Gaza Ministry of Health shows that since the ceasefire last October, Israel has caused at least 1,574 Palestinian deaths and 5,687 injuries in Gaza. The Gaza Ministry of Education has called on the international community to take urgent action to protect local students and schools.
