According to Iran's state broadcaster IRIB, Iranian judiciary chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei called for "swift" handling of cases involving those accused of cooperating with Iran's enemies, emphasizing that individuals guilty of "blatant betrayal of the homeland" must be dealt with "decisively and quickly." These remarks come amid a widespread crackdown since the US-Israeli war against Iran began in February. A judiciary spokesperson previously stated that at least 1,895 people, including 94 media workers, have been accused of cooperating with Israel or other hostile states, while another 50,000 were detained for nationwide protests in January. According to Iranian human rights organizations, at least 16 alleged spies have been executed between January and September this year.
