Ryanair's Q2 Profit Falls 6% Due to Fuel Costs and Middle East Conflict
Irish low-cost airline Ryanair reported a 6% drop in net profit to €1.61 billion for the second quarter ending September, down from €1.72 billion in the same period last year, citing rising fuel costs and the impact of the US-Israel-Iran war on airfares. CEO Michael O'Leary noted that jet fuel prices are expected to remain high until 2027 unless the Middle East conflict is quickly resolved, projecting an additional €2 billion increase in the fuel bill for the next fiscal year. He stated that the full-year profit guidance remains "highly susceptible to any escalation in the Middle East and Ukraine conflicts."
