Attacks on shipping and ports in the Black Sea have intensified pressure on grain exports, Al Jazeera reported. Viktor Honcharenko, head of the Ukrainian Farmers Association, stated that after the disruption of operations at the Port of Odesa, land routes can handle at most about half of grain exports. Analyst Aleksey Kushch estimated that only about half of the up to 60 million tons of grain harvested in Ukraine this year would be able to be shipped out. The report noted that Chicago wheat futures rose from $5.03 per bushel in October 2025 to $6.03 in October 2026, an increase of approximately 20%. This annual increase is attributed to multiple factors, including climate and other conflicts, and cannot be solely blamed on a single shipping attack.
