According to The Korea Herald, South Korea's Financial Services Commission on Wednesday imposed a combined fine of 374.6 billion won on seven banks and six brokerage firms for the misselling of Hong Kong-linked equity-linked securities products, setting a record for such penalties in the country. The report noted that the regulatory body significantly reduced the fines from previously proposed amounts after taking investor compensation and legal factors into consideration.
