Kakao Postpones Corporate Spin-off Plan to February 2027 While Accelerating 150 Billion Won Share Buyback
Kakao has delayed its corporate spin-off plan to February 2027 while accelerating a 150 billion won share buyback. Due to the Korea Exchange's preliminary re-listing review taking longer than expected, Kakao has postponed its plan to split into Kakao AI and Kakao X from January 1 to February 1. It is also accelerating the 150 billion won (approximately $112 million) share buyback and cancellation plan to shore up shareholder confidence ahead of the restructuring. The company stated on Thursday that its board of directors has approved the revised schedule.
