International oil prices rebounded mildly during the session, but are still heading for a sharp weekly decline of about 12% driven by the US midterm elections. Brent crude futures for January rose $1.57, or 1.6%, to $99.86 a barrel (at 02:22 GMT); U.S. WTI crude futures gained $1.10, or 1.2%, to $91.62 a barrel. Both benchmarks rose for a second consecutive day, yet still face a cumulative weekly drop of around 12%, following an 8% plunge on Wednesday—hitting a two-month low—after the Democrats scored a major victory in the midterm elections.
