The crypto exchange announced on Tuesday that it received Financial Services Permission from the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) of Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). This approval allows Coinbase to arrange investment deals and provide custody for tokenized securities, which will be registered and issued in ADGM under FSRA oversight. The move positions Abu Dhabi as a key base for Coinbase to bring traditional securities onchain outside the U.S., leveraging the emirate's push into onchain finance.

SK Hynix plans to resume construction of its second factory in Dalian, China, expanding local NAND flash production capacity by approximately 50% to accelerate its presence in the enterprise storage market and meet the growing demand from AI data centers. According to semiconductor industry sources, Solidigm, SK Hynix's NAND subsidiary, restarted investment and construction work on the second Dalian factory in the first half of this year. The plan is to introduce production equipment as early as November this year and establish a mass production system in the first half of next year. The new production line is expected to have a monthly wafer input capacity of approximately 50,000 wafers. Combined with the existing Dalian first factory's monthly capacity of 100,000 wafers, the total local capacity will increase by about 50%. This expansion will focus on producing 100-layer NAND based on mature technology, while mass production of high-layer-count NAND (300 layers and above) will be concentrated at facilities such as M17 in Cheongju, South Korea.

A fund manager at Lazard said that infrastructure companies, such as road, water, and telecom tower companies, are undervalued, with their intrinsic value sometimes even surpassing the hype surrounding artificial intelligence (AI). The fund manager noted that while investors are currently broadly focused on AI and data centers, traditional infrastructure in areas such as energy, water, transportation, and communications offers stable investment opportunities.

Kansas City Federal Reserve President Jeff Schmid stated in an August 4 speech that inflation is his primary concern, deeming it "too high" and requiring "tighter policy" to bring it back to the Federal Reserve's 2% target. Meanwhile, the U.S. 30-year fixed mortgage rate has risen for the fifth consecutive week, reaching 6.69% as of August 6, the highest level since July 2025.

Zeta Global (NYSE:ZETA) executives outlined the company's strategy during KeyBanc's Technology Leadership Forum, highlighting that its Athena conversational AI reached monthly usage among 40% of its largest customers within 150 days. The company also plans to jointly target Palantir's U.S. commercial customers spending over $1 billion on marketing. Additionally, Zeta Global intends to direct at least 50% of quarterly cash generation toward share repurchases.

CoinDesk cited an analysis by Jurrien Timmer, Fidelity Investments' director of global macro, pointing out that U.S. government bond yields (the risk-free rate in financial markets) are rising again, making government bonds compete with risk assets like stocks for capital. Timmer emphasized that from the 1960s to the mid-1990s, rising U.S. government bond yields led to painful market adjustments, such as the "Black Monday" stock market crash in 1987. Currently, the 30-year U.S. government bond yield has hovered at its highest level since 2007, and if Wednesday's U.S. CPI data exceeds expectations, it could further validate the Federal Reserve's "higher for longer" interest rate outlook. The analysis suggests that if yields continue to rise, all assets, including stocks and Bitcoin, will need to justify their prices through stronger earnings or cash flow. For Bitcoin, due to its lack of earnings and cash flow, its value relies entirely on its appeal as "digital gold" and a hedge against fiat currency depreciation, making its future price predictions of $500,000 or $1,000,000 seem "a bit far-fetched."

UK Members of Parliament (MPs) have written to the CEOs of major banks, requesting an explanation of their policy approach to cryptocurrency businesses and how the new UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) crypto regulatory regime (set to take effect on October 25, 2027) will alter banks' assessment of these authorized digital assets firms. The MPs noted that restricted access to banking services is one of the biggest obstacles to the growth of UK crypto and digital assets businesses, and referenced previous comments by Lucy Rigby, Economic Secretary to the Treasury, stating that the government does not want FCA-licensed crypto firms to be restricted by banking service providers solely due to their industry. This move is part of the inquiry into crypto banking access launched on July 21 by the UK Parliament's All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Crypto and Digital Assets.

According to CoinDesk, Bitcoin-backed loans are accelerating into the institutional era as public companies increasingly use their Bitcoin holdings as collateral to finance acquisitions and capital expenditures without selling the assets. This month, MARA Holdings (MARA) pledged 18,750 Bitcoin to secure two term loans totaling $600 million from Coinbase Credit and Two Prime Lending. This collateral represented approximately 53% of Marathon's Bitcoin holdings at the time and was valued at approximately $1.2 billion when the transaction closed on August 4. MARA stated that the loan proceeds may be used for general corporate purposes, including the planned acquisition of Long Ridge Energy & Power. Alexander Blume, CEO of Two Prime, said that secured Bitcoin loan products are maturing, and the company is developing the ability to offer longer cycles and more customized terms to serve institutional clients.

The Japanese Yen fell past the 159 mark against the US Dollar from Monday to Tuesday, following nearly $100 billion in dollar selling by US and Japanese authorities to support the Yen. The market is skeptical about whether the Bank of Japan (BOJ) is willing to significantly tighten monetary policy to support the Yen, while also concerned that Japan's prolonged dollar selling could lead to the liquidation of a large portion of its US Treasury holdings.

Several South Korean brokerages have lowered their target prices for Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, with some reductions exceeding 30%, due to rising concerns that the memory market has peaked. Kiwoom Securities cut its target price for Samsung Electronics from 390,000 Korean Won to 350,000 Korean Won, and for SK Hynix from 2,200,000 Korean Won to 2,100,000 Korean Won. Mirae Asset Securities lowered its target price for Samsung Electronics from 550,000 Korean Won to 370,000 Korean Won, and for SK Hynix from 4,200,000 Korean Won to 2,800,000 Korean Won, both representing a 33% reduction. This round of adjustments is primarily driven by the high prices of general memory chips leading to cautious procurement by terminal manufacturers, as well as potential supply pressure from large-scale capacity expansion in 2027. Despite this, brokerages generally maintain a "buy" rating for both companies and are optimistic about the medium-to-long-term growth prospects of their HBM businesses.

Bank of America warns that S&P 500 earnings growth may slow in 2027, with Q1 growth expected to be below 20% and full-year growth dropping to around 15%. Previously, S&P 500 earnings per share (EPS) grew by approximately 32% in Q2 and 30% in Q1, achieving historically rare consecutive strong growth. The bank noted that while AI and cloud computing expenditures remain key supports, the market often underperforms when earnings remain strong but growth slows, and stricter comparison bases could pressure returns in 2027.

HSBC states that Wednesday's US CPI report could be the next dovish catalyst, driving markets to further reduce expectations for Federal Reserve rate hikes. The bank anticipates another set of soft inflation figures, following the lower-than-expected June CPI data. If confirmed, HSBC believes this would lead to lower US Treasury yields, a bull steepening of the yield curve, and receding rate hike bets, thereby creating a "Goldilocks" environment for a broad rally in risk assets.
