What Is WIT? An Analysis of the Witnet Protocol’s Core Token
WIT is the native token of the Witnet decentralized oracle protocol.Witnet is dedicated to bridging the “data gap” between blockchain smart contracts and real-world data, ensuring that external data fed into smart contracts is highly reliable, tamper-proof, and decentralized. This is crucial for autonomous smart contracts that require high integrity and resistance to manipulation.
Launched in 2020, the Witnet protocol features the following key characteristics:

- Decentralized Oracle: Witnet uses a decentralized system composed of a network of nodes to acquire, verify, and transmit data to smart contracts, thereby avoiding the single points of failure and data manipulation risks associated with traditional centralized oracles.
- Technical Architecture: Witnet’s blockchain is specifically built using the Rust programming language, with a focus on optimizing use cases for oracles. It employs a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus algorithm, whereby node operators stake WIT tokens to participate in network maintenance, resolve data requests, and earn WIT tokens as rewards.
- Cross-Chain Compatibility: Although it has its own blockchain, the Witnet protocol uses bridging technology to enable interaction with multiple blockchain platforms, enhancing its versatility across different ecosystems.
- Use Cases: Witnet can be widely applied in the decentralized finance (DeFi) sector, providing support for price feeds, stablecoins, and derivatives; it also serves as a reliable source of randomness for non-fungible token (NFT) generation.
The Witnet Team and Development
The Witnet protocol was co-founded by Adan Crespo, Daniele Levi, and others.Adan Crespo has a strong background in software engineering and blockchain technology, while Daniele Levi brings extensive experience in entrepreneurship and technology. The Witnet Foundation, along with numerous individual contributors, has played a key role in the protocol’s creation and ongoing development. The project is primarily developed by Stampery.
Witnet is undergoing continuous iteration; for example, the Wit/2 version was scheduled for release in March 2025, and staking functionality has already been opened to validators, while delegated staking was planned for launch in the second quarter of 2025.

WIT Token Economics and Market Performance
The total supply of WIT tokens is capped at 2,500,000,000. As of this writing, publicly available data shows discrepancies in the circulating supply across different sources; for example, CoinMarketCap reports a circulating supply of approximately 802,016,622 WIT.
Regarding WIT’s price and market capitalization, as of this writing, CoinMarketCap shows its real-time price at close to $0, with a 24-hour trading volume of $0 and a market capitalization also listed as $0. This indicates that the token has extremely low market liquidity, and trading activity has virtually ground to a halt.
Where can WIT be traded?

Given WIT’s current extremely low liquidity and trading volume, its trading options are very limited. Based on publicly available data as of today, WIT can be traded on the following platforms:
- Raydium: This is a decentralized exchange (DEX) built on the Solana blockchain where users can trade WIT tokens. Since WIT tokens may circulate on the Solana chain via bridging technology, users can connect to Raydium using a Web3 wallet that supports the Solana network (such as Phantom) to exchange them.
Important Note: Given WIT’s current market performance (near-zero price and trading volume), its liquidity is extremely low, and trading carries extremely high risks. Before attempting to buy or sell any such assets, be sure to conduct a thorough risk assessment and due diligence, and confirm that the laws and regulations of your jurisdiction permit such transactions.Other platforms mentioned in public sources (such as Uniswap, PancakeSwap, DexTools, 1inch, YoBit, Changelly, Bitget Wallet, Binance Web3 Wallet,Crypto.com, Coinbase, etc.) may have previously supported or provided relevant information; however, as of this writing, they are not primary or active trading channels, or they may only provide informational displays. Please refer to the platforms’ latest announcements and actual trading conditions for confirmation.
WIT Token Wallet Support

Users can use wallets that support the Witnet protocol to store and manage WIT tokens. Known wallets include:
- Sheikah: This is a privacy-focused wallet that supports Windows, macOS, and GNU/Linux operating systems.
- myWitWallet: This wallet supports instant transactions without the need for blockchain synchronization.
- Bitget Wallet: This multi-chain wallet also supports the storage and management of WIT tokens.
