Flamingo Swap is a core component of Flamingo Finance, a decentralized finance protocol based on the Neo blockchain, designed to provide on-chain asset exchange and liquidity services. Recently, the protocol suffered a severe security attack, causing significant damage to its ecosystem.
Project and Ecosystem Overview
Flamingo Swap is the decentralized exchange (DEX) protocol of Flamingo Finance. Flamingo Finance is a full-stack DeFi platform deployed on the Neo N3 network, offering not only a DEX but also liquidity mining, asset wrapping, and governance functionalities. Its native governance and incentive token is FLM.
Operational Basics and Prerequisites

Using Flamingo Swap requires several basic prerequisites:
- Compatible Wallet: A wallet supporting the Neo N3 blockchain, such as NeoLine or O3 Wallet, is required.
- Neo Network Assets: User assets must be on the Neo blockchain, or cross-chained from other chains via Flamingo's asset wrapping feature.
- FLM Fees: Executing transactions and other operations on the Neo N3 network requires a small amount of GAS as network transaction fees.
Recent Major Security Incidents and Current Status
On August 31, 2026, a reward calculation vulnerability was discovered in Flamingo Finance's staking contract. Attackers exploited this vulnerability to mint a massive amount of FLM tokens (estimated to be thousands of times the circulating supply before the attack) and sold them off, draining its DEX liquidity pools. This incident led to a significant drop in FLM's price.
Shortly thereafter, on September 16, 2026, the protocol was again hit by a flash loan attack, with attackers profiting approximately $345,900. The successive security incidents severely damaged market confidence.
According to data from the public market data platform Svmuu, FLM's price has shrunk significantly since the incidents, and its current Total Value Locked (TVL) is also at an extremely low level, with liquidity nearly depleted. Previously, mainstream exchanges like Binance delisted FLM in 2025 due to liquidity issues.
Key Risk Warnings

Based on recent events and public information, users should be highly vigilant about the following risks when interacting with Flamingo Swap or FLM:
- Extreme Security Risk: The protocol being compromised multiple times in a short period indicates severe security vulnerabilities in its smart contracts, and similar incidents may occur again in the future.
- Liquidity Depletion Risk: The attacks led to the depletion of liquidity pools, resulting in extremely poor DEX trading depth. Asset exchanges may face significant slippage or even be impossible to execute.
- Token Value Zero Risk: The massive malicious inflation severely diluted FLM's value, and its price has fallen to historical lows, with extreme uncertainty regarding its future trajectory.
- Impermanent Loss and Contract Risk: Liquidity providers face not only impermanent loss from market volatility but are also directly exposed to smart contract vulnerability risks.
In summary, Flamingo Swap is currently in a high-risk state. Users must fully understand its historical security incidents, current market conditions, and asset prices, and assume all risks themselves before deciding to use the protocol.
