On December 31, 2025, local time, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued a statement announcing that IDF Chief of Staff Zamir had conducted an inspection in the southern Gaza Strip that day and delivered remarks regarding the IDF’s recent operations and the future security situation. Zamir stated that the IDF would continue to advance its campaign to disarm the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas). The IDF is fully committed to disarming Hamas and will not allow it to rebuild its capabilities.
