According to the fact sheet, the higher tariffs, originally scheduled to take effect this Thursday, have now been postponed until January 1, 2027.Under an announcement issued in September, Donald Trump had planned to raise tariffs on “certain wood-based panel products” from 25% to 30% effective January 1, and to significantly increase tariffs on kitchen and bathroom cabinets from 25% to 50%.The White House stated that the announcement signed on Wednesday delays this measure, and the current 25% tariff will remain in effect.The fact sheet indicates that the United States “is continuing productive negotiations with trading partners regarding trade reciprocity and national security concerns related to wood product imports,” suggesting that these negotiations may lead to an agreement that would further delay the imposition of the new tariffs.
