Railways in the Yangtze River Delta carried 3.766 million passengers on January 1, setting a new single-day record for passenger volume during the New Year’s Day holiday.
January 2 marked the second day of the 2026 New Year’s Day holiday. According to the China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd., passenger traffic on the Yangtze River Delta railway network remained at high levels that day, with an estimated 2.65 million passengers expected to travel. On January 1, the Yangtze River Delta railway system transported 3.766 million passengers, an increase of approximately 59.1% year-on-year, setting a new single-day record for passenger volume during the New Year’s holiday period.
