On January 1 local time, the Libyan National Oil Corporation issued a statement announcing that Libya’s total crude oil production in 2025 reached 501 million barrels, with an average daily output of 1.374 million barrels—both the highest levels in a decade. The statement noted that Libya’s oil revenue in 2025 reached $21.9 billion, a 15% increase from the previous year. The revenue includes royalties, concession contract taxes, and other sources. Libya is one of Africa’s largest oil producers and a member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). Oil and natural gas exports are Libya’s primary source of revenue. However, the country has been plagued by conflict and political instability since the overthrow of the Gaddafi regime in 2011.
