His voice was loud, and every word he spoke was carefully considered. He sought to convey the profound humiliation he felt at being taken from his homeland and held captive, referring to himself as a prisoner of war.” Coates added that Maduro kept his fingertips pressed against the table in front of him as he spoke. She also noted that Maduro took “extensive notes.”
