On January 6, the Chinese Consulate General in Osaka issued a notice reminding Chinese citizens in its consular district to be on guard against earthquake hazards. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, a 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck Shimane Prefecture at approximately 10:18 a.m. on January 6 (Japan Standard Time). Earthquake tremors of varying intensity were felt in Shimane and Tottori prefectures within our consular district, as well as in Okayama, Hiroshima, Kagawa, Ehime, Osaka, Kyoto, and Hyogo, among others, reported varying degrees of shaking. The earthquake did not trigger a tsunami. The Consulate General in Osaka advises Chinese citizens within its jurisdiction, particularly those in Shimane and Tottori prefectures, to remain vigilant, closely monitor official weather warnings and disaster prevention information issued by Japanese authorities, and take precautions against aftershocks, tsunamis, and other secondary disasters.
