Guangdong: Optimizing Insurance Services for New Energy Vehicles and Exploring the Development of Liability Insurance Products for Autonomous Driving
The Guangdong Financial Regulatory Bureau has issued the "Guiding Opinions on Supporting the High-Quality Development of the Province’s Insurance Industry and Helping Guangdong Take the Lead in China’s Modernization," which proposes strengthening insurance services to support the province’s goal of becoming a manufacturing powerhouse. Aligned with Guangdong’s objective of building a modern industrial system with international competitiveness, the guidelines focus on key manufacturing industrial chains and aim to enhance insurance coverage for key industries, products, clusters, and enterprises. Building on the upgrading of insurance services for Guangdong’s traditional industries, the bureau will increase insurance support for strategic emerging industrial clusters—such as new energy, new materials, and commercial aerospace—as well as emerging industries including new energy vehicles and vessels, integrated circuits, new energy storage, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, and drones and unmanned vessels. We will expand insurance services for the low-altitude economy, developing full-industry-chain, full-spectrum, and full-scenario insurance products and services centered on key areas such as low-altitude flight infrastructure and intelligent connectivity systems, key low-altitude aircraft manufacturing industries, and low-altitude flight application scenarios. We will optimize insurance services for new energy vehicles, explore the development of intelligent driving liability insurance products, and support the development of Guangdong’s new energy vehicle industry.
