Former CFTC Chair: Banks Need Regulatory Clarity More Than the Crypto Industry
Svmuu News: Former CFTC Chairman Chris Giancarlo stated on The Wolf of All Streets podcast that U.S. banks need regulatory clarity on cryptocurrency more than anything else; otherwise, they risk falling behind the rest of the world in payment innovation. Chris Giancarlo noted that even if the CLARITY Act is not passed, the crypto industry will continue to evolve; however, without clear rules, bank boards will hesitate to invest billions of dollars due to regulatory uncertainty. Chris Giancarlo emphasized that U.S. financial institutions must modernize by adopting this technology; if adoption is delayed, regions such as Asia and Europe will take the lead, leaving the U.S. banking system at a disadvantage. If the CLARITY Act ultimately fails to pass, SEC Chair Paul Atkins and CFTC Chair Mike Selig are expected to establish independent rules to provide interim guidance.
