The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has issued "Six Dos and Don'ts" recommendations for mitigating security risks associated with the OpenClaw ("Lobster") open-source agent
Svmuu News: In response to security risks associated with typical "Lobster" use cases, the Cybersecurity Threat and Vulnerability Information Sharing Platform (NVDB) of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has organized intelligence providers, vulnerability collection platform operators, and cybersecurity companies to develop a set of "Six Dos and Six Don'ts" recommendations. The recommendations note that financial transaction scenarios face significant risks of triggering erroneous trades or even account takeover. By deploying "Lobster" at enterprises or by individuals to call financial application programming interfaces (APIs) for automated trading and risk control, efficiency in quantitative trading, intelligent investment research, and portfolio management can be enhanced, enabling functions such as market data scraping, strategy analysis, and trade order execution. Countermeasures include: implementing network isolation and the principle of least privilege, and closing non-essential internet ports; establishing manual review and circuit-breaker emergency mechanisms, with secondary confirmation for critical operations; strengthening supply chain audits, using official components, and regularly patching vulnerabilities; and implementing end-to-end auditing and security monitoring to promptly detect and address security risks.
