Analyst: The Strait of Hormuz is unlikely to reopen in the short term, oil prices will continue to receive support
Svmuu News The Federal Reserve kept interest rates unchanged in March and projected higher inflation as policymakers assess the impact of the US-Israel war with Iran. Furthermore, Iran launched retaliatory attacks on energy facilities across the Middle East, leading to a severe escalation of the conflict and continued increases in oil prices. Priyanka Sachdeva, an analyst at Phillip Nova, stated that the escalation in the Middle East situation, precise strikes on oil infrastructure, and the death of Iranian leadership all point to sustained disruptions in oil supply. Adding fuel to the fire, the Federal Reserve maintained interest rates but adopted a hawkish tone, highlighting economic concerns stemming from the conflict. Tina Teng, a market strategist at Moomoo ANZ under Futu, noted that due to Iran's new round of attacks on Middle Eastern energy infrastructure exacerbating regional tensions, with no signs of the conflict easing, the Strait of Hormuz is unlikely to reopen in the short term, and oil prices will continue to receive support.
