Svmuu News: Thu Lan Nguyen of Commerzbank stated in a report that, following the yen’s recent decline, the possibility of joint intervention by Japan and the United States in the foreign exchange market to boost the yen and weaken the dollar should not be ruled out. She noted that U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent had downplayed speculation about such intervention in January, but that was at a time when the dollar was weakening. With the dollar currently strengthening, conditions for coordinated intervention appear more favorable. The G7 meeting of central bank governors and energy and finance ministers on Monday may provide a good opportunity for Japanese Finance Minister Katayama to secure Bessent’s support. (Jin Shi)
