His girlfriend in middle school was a kind Taiwanese girl. During high school, due to the long-distance relationship, his high school girlfriend broke up with him after three months. Although CZ was very sad, he was not surprised.
In his sophomore year of college, CZ dated another gentle and kind Taiwanese girl named Amanda. However, he was not mature enough at the time. Whenever small conflicts arose, he would escalate the disagreements and loved to use breakups to threaten her. Finally, when he used the breakup threat for the last time, Amanda actually agreed. CZ cried bitterly and cursed himself for being stupid and dramatic.
Later, CZ went to Tokyo and met Winnie at a Chinese restaurant. They started dating and got married within a few years. However, when he went to work in Beijing, his family had already moved to Tokyo. CZ stated in his memoir, "It was from this time that my ex-wife and I began living separately, and we officially divorced a few years later."
