Svmuu News: Following the suspension of the Stargate project in the UK, OpenAI announced that it has abandoned plans to directly lease computing power from the "Stargate Norway" data center in Narvik, Norway. The project was originally developed by the UK-based AI cloud services startup Nscale and had a planned capacity of 230 MW.Sources familiar with the matter said OpenAI had considered leasing about half of the facility’s computing power but ultimately failed to reach an agreement with Nscale; the relevant computing power has now been taken over by Microsoft. OpenAI stated that it is in discussions with Microsoft to access Norwegian computing resources through its cloud services, a move that is financially more aligned with its existing spending arrangements.(CNBC)
