Given the erratic nature of the timeline, one can't help but question whether there was ever any real timeline from the start of the conflict, and whether the endgame was truly thought through before going to war. These are questions many Americans are asking. Why start such a war without knowing how to end it and without a predetermined exit path? Trump continues to try to construct an exit path, insisting that negotiations will take place and that he knows these negotiations will succeed.
