**Output:** US Media: Iran Imposes New Strait of Hormuz Regulations, Requiring Vessels to Report to the "Persian Gulf Strait Authority" Before Transit
Svmuu reported that, according to CNN, a document shows that Iran has established a new set of rules for vessels wishing to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, moving forward with its efforts to institutionalize control over the waterway despite US warnings. The document, titled "Vessel Information Declaration," was issued by Iran's newly established "Persian Gulf Strait Authority" (PGSA) and must be filled out by all transit vessels to ensure safe passage. The PGSA document contains over 40 questions, requiring vessels to declare their name, identification number, former name, country of origin, and destination. The document also requires the declaration of the registered owner, operator, and crew nationality, along with cargo details. The aforementioned information must be submitted via email before transiting the strait. A PGSA email stated, "Complete and accurate information is crucial for processing vessel transit applications," and "the applicant will bear all consequences arising from any erroneous or incomplete information provided." It is currently unclear whether any shipping companies have applied for transit permits from the PGSA. Analysts noted that this move could expose shipping companies to the risk of US sanctions.
