SK Hynix Q2 Earnings Call: No Signs of a Slowdown in AI Investment; HBM4E to Enter Mass Production in 2027; Stock Price Plummets Over 10%
During its second-quarter earnings conference call with analysts, South Korea’s SK Hynix stated that it currently sees no signs of a slowdown in AI investment and expects AI infrastructure investment to remain robust beyond 2027. The company revealed that mass production and shipments of HBM4 began in the second quarter, with yield rates approaching the mature levels of HBM3E; HBM4E samples have been delivered to major customers, with mass production planned for 2027. Additionally, SK Hynix has signed long-term supply agreements (LTAs)—typically lasting five years—with approximately 10 customers and does not anticipate an oversupply. However, the company significantly raised its 2026 capital expenditure forecast to “the mid-to-high 40 trillion won range.” Due to the lack of quantifiable guidance exceeding market expectations and details on LTA pricing, SK Hynix’s stock price plummeted by more than 10% following the earnings call.
