The company expects to pass on a portion of the refund to consumers. Amazon Chief Financial Officer Brian Olsavsky said the company will proactively contact affected customers and issue automatic refunds in specific cases; otherwise, like other major retailers, it will use the refund to continue investing in offering low prices to customers. In February of this year, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the tariffs imposed by Donald Trump under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977 were invalid.
