Microsoft's Xbox chief details strategy to surpass rivals in profitability by 2030
Microsoft's Xbox chief Asha Sharma has outlined a strategic plan to surpass rivals in profitability by mid-2030, aiming to align margins with competitors by next year. In a memo to employees, Sharma stated the gaming unit will invest more in its Minecraft franchise, expand globally through new partnerships including in China, and seek to gain market share in casual games, partly via Activision Blizzard's King. This strategy follows a 10% quarterly revenue decline for Xbox, its most sluggish performance since 2022. Sharma, who replaced Phil Spencer as Xbox CEO in February, also emphasized a focus on exclusive titles for the Xbox console and a reset of the business for long-term growth.
