Berkshire Q2 Net Profit Doubles YoY to $25.667 Billion, Repurchases $4.5 Billion in Stock, Largest in 5 Years, Google Enters Top Five Holdings
Berkshire Hathaway announced its latest financial results, with Q2 GAAP net income reaching $25.667 billion, an increase of approximately 107% year-over-year, primarily driven by a significant rebound in unrealized gains from its equity investment portfolio. During the quarter, the company repurchased approximately $4.5 billion of its own shares, marking the largest quarterly shareholder return since 2021. Additionally, Berkshire made net equity purchases of approximately $19.8 billion in Q2, including spending about $10 billion to acquire Google (Alphabet) common stock, officially placing it among the company's top five holdings. Q2 operating earnings grew by approximately 16% to $12.983 billion.
