According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics of China, in July 2026, the National Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 0.5% year-on-year, with an increase of 0.5% in urban areas and 0.4% in rural areas. Food prices decreased by 1.5% year-on-year, while non-food prices increased by 0.9%. Consumer goods prices rose by 0.2%, and service prices increased by 0.7%.

On a month-on-month basis, the National Consumer Price Index decreased by 0.1% in July. Specifically, urban areas saw a decrease of 0.1%, and rural areas a decrease of 0.2%; food prices remained flat, while non-food prices decreased by 0.1%; consumer goods prices decreased by 0.6%, and service prices increased by 0.4%.

For the period from January to July, the National Consumer Price Index rose by an average of 0.9% compared to the same period last year.
