Controversial Bitcoin fork BIP-110 mined only two blocks before stalling, facing low hashpower and potential transaction replay risks
The fork, which occurred on Saturday at block 961,632, inherited Bitcoin's mining difficulty but operates with a tiny share of hashpower. This has resulted in blocks being hours apart, with the chain needing 350 days to complete the 2,016 blocks required for a difficulty adjustment. Only 2.53% of blocks signaled for BIP-110, far below the 55% needed for activation without a split. Both the main Bitcoin chain and the BIP-110 chain still accept identical transactions, raising concerns about a novel attack method where transactions on the fork could be replayed on the main chain.
