The Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs stated that Israel informed them on Sunday of the death of Ihab Mohammed Abdel Qader Diab, 36, who was detained on December 12, 2023, and is believed to have died around September 18, 2024. While Israeli authorities cited an underlying health condition, Diab's family rejected this, claiming he was healthy at the time of detention and alleging torture. Gaza’s Prisoners’ Ministry holds the Israeli government responsible, citing evidence of torture and medical neglect, and has called for an international investigation. According to the commission, Diab's death brings the total number of Palestinian detainees who have died in Israeli custody to 328 since 1967, including 91 since October 7, 2023.
