Japan's Sumitomo Corporation has acquired a 33.3% stake in the UK Gwynt Glas offshore wind project. The project is being developed by EDF Power Solutions UK and Ireland and Electricity Supply Board (ESB) in the Celtic Sea off the coast of the UK, with a planned generation capacity of up to 1.5GW. This investment marks Sumitomo Corporation's first foray into floating offshore wind projects, aligning with its goal to accelerate investment in overseas energy solutions as outlined in its 2026 Medium-Term Management Plan.
